Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP) is one of Uganda’s most famous and biodiverse conservation areas. Located in western Uganda, it spans approximately 1,978 square kilometers (764 square miles) and is bordered by Lake Edward, Lake George, and the Rwenzori Mountains. Established in 1952, the park was originally named Kazinga National Park but was renamed in 1954 in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s visit to Uganda.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is part of the Western Rift Valley and is known for its diverse ecosystems, which include savannah, wetlands, forests, and crater lakes. It is home to over 95 mammal species and more than 600 bird species, making it a top destination for wildlife enthusiasts, bird watchers, and adventure travelers.
